OUR TABLE - EXPANDABLE SHOE FUNDRAISER
Our Table small group is doing something this month and we would love for you to be part of it. We want to support a non-profit doing important Kingdom work. I (Sierra, one of the leaders of Our Table) currently work for Mission Partners for Christ and have seen firsthand the incredible work they do in remote and unreached people groups in Africa.
We are raising $1,000 by September 30th to put shoes on the feet of children in remote communities in Africa through Mission Partners for Christ. And BONUS — every dollar we raise by Monday September 21st will be matched by a generous donor.
It's easy to overlook something as simple as a pair of shoes. But for millions of children around the world, shoes are more than comfort. Without durable footwear, kids are vulnerable to disease, parasites, injury, and barriers to school and daily life. A child who can't walk to school without pain doesn't go to school. A child whose feet are exposed to the ground in certain regions is exposed to things we don't think twice about here in the USA.
That's where The Shoe That Grows comes in. A specially designed shoe that expands up to five sizes, so one pair protects a child's feet for years instead of weeks. What started as a simple idea in Nairobi has grown into a movement — more than 500,000 pairs distributed across 100 countries, offering real protection against soil-transmitted illness and new opportunities for health and hope.
Mission Partners for Christ has partnered with Because International to bring these shoes to children on medical missions across Africa — distributing thousands of pairs in Ethiopia, Chad, Togo, Sierra Leone, and Burundi. We wanted to be part of getting more pairs onto more children’s feet.
Mission Partners for Christ is a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing medical care and the gospel of Jesus Christ to underserved and unreached communities around the world. Through short-term medical mission trips, they send teams of physicians, nurses, and volunteers into remote villages where access to basic healthcare is limited or nonexistent. They treat patients, distribute supplies, share the gospel one on one, and leave behind something that lasts long after the team comes home. Over the years they have served communities across Africa and beyond — and the stories they carry back are absolutely incredible.
The expandable shoe is one of the tools they bring and this month, our small group wants to help send more of them. Each pair costs just $20. Give before September 21st and your gift is matched — meaning your twenty dollars becomes forty and two children get shoes instead of one.
